The world of electronic music is in mourning. Kavinsky, whose real name was Vincent Belorgey, has died at the age of 50. The artist was found lifeless in his Paris flat. An investigation has been opened to establish the exact circumstances of his death, but initial findings point to no third-party involvement.
An emblematic figure of the French electro scene, Kavinsky won over an international audience with his track “Nightcall”, made famous in 2011 by the film Drive. He had recently made a big impression with his performance at the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Since the announcement of his death, many artists and public figures, including David Guetta, The Weeknd and President Emmanuel Macron, have paid tribute to him, hailing the musical legacy of an artist who left a deep mark on the French and international electro scene.
