In Apach, councillors and residents unite around republican values
In Apach, municipal councillors, representatives of citizens' bodies and residents came together to show their commitment to the institutions of the Republic, against a national backdrop of violence and vandalism.

On Monday 19 October 2026, at around 5.30pm, all the municipal councillors, several members of the Conseil des sages (Council of Elders) and representatives of the Conseil des jeunes (Youth Council) stood alongside Émilie Vilain. Residents also took part in the gathering, held outside a municipal building.
This local show of support comes amid tensions that have affected several French towns and cities, with public buildings vandalised and shops looted.
‘Voicing demands without resorting to violence’.
Citizen mobilisations, whether led by secondary school pupils, students, professionals or other sections of the population, sometimes reflect strong expectations of the public authorities. But when acts of violence, looting or destruction become part of them, the consequences also fall on residents, shopkeepers and local authorities.
In Apach, the joint presence of municipal councillors, members of the Conseil des sages and representatives of the Conseil des jeunes reflects the involvement of different generations in the life of the community.
Beyond the national circumstances, this gathering serves as a reminder of the importance of dialogue, respect for institutions and citizen participation in local democratic life.
