A prefectural order bans the purchase, sale, transport, possession and use of several categories of fireworks for the general public (categories F2 and F3) until 20 July. The decision aims to prevent public disorder while also taking into account the intense heat and high fire risk.
In addition, several towns have already announced that their fireworks displays have been cancelled or postponed. Other towns are monitoring the situation and could adapt their programme if the weather does not improve.
Residents of Apach, Sierck-les-Bains, Bouzonville and neighbouring towns are asked to check the official announcements from their town hall before going to the 13 and 14 July celebrations.
